Artist Statement
For me painting is playing. When I am painting I am at peace with the world and can solve all the world's problem. I love color and texture most of the time , however there are times I need to do a traditional painting of a traditional landscape here in Nova Scotia. I love the sea and therefore tend to go back to doing seascapes. Other times I need to do some children doing what they love to do best ....play.
I am still amazed that people actually buy my work and very thankful for that. It keeps me painting . I cannot imagine a life without painting in it.
I do numerous paintings with texture. I believe that I am helping the environment because otherwise this stuff would end up in the landfill site. I use pieces of paper, garlic and orange bags. I use leftover string, ribbon , tissue paper and basically anything that will work. I have used nails and broken guitar strings. I also use artist products designed for creating texture. And I am truly thankful to those who have purchased my art and those who continue to support me with words of encouragement.
